Privacy Policy

1. Introduction & Core Principle

The Indiranagar Methodist Church (IMC) Bible & Worship Songs website is designed to be a reverent, distraction-free digital companion for congregational worship and Scripture reading. We respect your privacy and believe in total transparency.

Key Summary: This web application collects zero personal information, requires no user registration or login, sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and performs all interactive features (search, font scaling, auto-scrolling, chord transposition) locally in your device's browser.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

• No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not ask for or collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, locations, or account details.
• No Tracking Cookies: We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising pixels, analytics beacons, or behavioral fingerprinting.
• No Payment Information: This website does not process financial transactions, tithing, or giving records.

3. Local Browser Storage Usage

To provide a seamless reading and worship experience across page reloads, this application stores three simple display preferences inside your browser's private localStorage:

• imc_theme: Remembers your visual theme preference (light or dark mode).
• imc_bible_font_size: Remembers your preferred Scripture text size (between 14px and 24px).
• imc_song_mode: Remembers whether you prefer Lyrics Only or Chords + Lyrics in song sheets.

These preference values reside strictly on your own smartphone or computer. They are never transmitted to our servers or accessible to third parties. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser cache or site data.

4. Scripture Content & Reverse Proxy

Scripture text is from the English Standard Version® (ESV®), copyright © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.

When you read Bible chapters beyond the locally bundled creation passage, the application requests the text on-demand through the church's server-side reverse proxy. These requests transmit only the requested passage query (e.g., "John 3"). No user credentials, cookies, or tracking headers are sent.

5. Audio Speech Narration

The "Listen ESV" feature uses your browser's native Web Speech API (speechSynthesis). The voice processing executes entirely on your device using your operating system's built-in speech engine. No audio data or recordings are uploaded to the internet.

6. External Links & Institutional Church Portal

This website provides links to the official church portal (https://imc.church/) and external services (e.g., esv.org). If you navigate to external domains, their respective privacy policies apply.
